Before I move on to today's post, I'd like to explain what SOAP is and why I am using it.
SOAP stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer and is a journaling technique that starts with scripture.
I have wanted to try this method for a while and now I am experimenting with it as a way of writing my devotions.
Give this technique a try in your own devotion time and let me know how it works out for you.

And He will make your paths straight.

Observation:
I can say, without a doubt, that during my desert time, I did exactly the opposite of this verse - and I wandered a very crooked path.
Even now, though, I find that I don't always trust in Him with all of my heart. I don't stop and consider His plans for me (Jeremiah 29:11) with regards to work, family, church or leisure activities. How much effort does it really take for me to stop and ask His guidance in my life before taking off in my own direction?
King David often consulted (or inquired) of the Lord before pursuing his enemies (1 Samuel 30:8). If it worked for David, why wouldn't it work for me?
Application:
Let me take time to consult God on His plans for me as I go through my day at home, work, church and even in my leisure time.
Prayer:
Father,
You are great and holy and You promise that You know Your plans for me.
Let me still myself and ask for Your guidance in every aspect of my life.
Let me listen to Your counsel and follow Your paths.
In Jesus' name.
Amen.
