Describing God isn't easy.
His infinite character doesn't conform to the limitation of human adjectives.
I've had challenging conversations with folks about songs that describe God's love as reckless.
And in this song, His love is described as fierce; like a tidal wave and a hurricane.
When I describe His love as reckless, I see Him spreading and sharing love with everyone - even those I may not see as worthy.
Think of the father in the parable of the prodigal son, who stood on the front porch, day after day, looking to the horizon for his lost son and upon seeing the son, running out to greet him.
And then, to top it off, clothing the son with new clothes, shoes, and a ring and then hosting a top-notch BBQ in the son's honor. Isn't that "reckless"? see Luke 15:22-24 (NASB)
When I describe His love as fierce, what I am experiencing is His irresistible and powerful nature.
Who can resist a tidal wave?
Who can stand against a hurricane?
Yet God's love is so powerful and overwhelming that I can't resist it.
Sadly, some people try to resist and never fully experience Him.
I will be an exception. I can't resist.
I will be an exception. I can't resist.
Today, I present you with Jesus Culture's "Fierce"
As you listen and worship, let God's presence overwhelm you just like standing in the middle of a hurricane!
I'd love to hear your thoughts. Please share in the comments.
