Are you able to worship God when you're heart is broken? This is my story and my challenge for you today.
I'm six months into a season of grief as I mourn the passing of my wife of 23 years.
Yesterday I was driving to an appointment in Austin when Tasha Layton's song, "Into The Sea" came on the radio.
The lyrics spoke to me in my grief:
"My heart is breakingIn a way I never thought it couldMy mind is racingWith the question, "Are you still good?"Can you make somethingFrom the wreckage?Would you take this heartAnd make it whole again?"
I cried, yet I tried pouring out my heart in praise and worship to God.
Bill Johnson talks about giving God our worship and praise, even when we don't feel like it.
There is no sickness, sorrow, or sadness in Eternity.
There is no sickness, sorrow, or sadness in Eternity.
Being able to offer a "sacrifice of praise" in this world, is a "flavor" or "incense", if you will, that we won't be able to offer Him in Eternity.
When you don't feel like worshiping God - maybe it's due to grief, or perhaps you're just having a bad day, or you're sick - just try worshiping Him anyway, in honesty, but through your pain, sorrow, sadness, or sickness.
See if He whispers to you, "It's gonna be OK".
Today's worship song is by Tasha Layton - "Into The Sea".
