30 Days of Worship - Day 19 - June 19, 2023

Today we continue, at least for a moment, with songs of worship from the secular rock world.

At first listen, today's song will sound like the singer is pining for a woman. But in reality, just as in the book of Ecclesiastes, he is complaining of a hole in his heart that only God can fill.

In fact, the chorus of today's song comes directly from Ecclesiastes 1:7 (NASB)

"Rivers flow into the sea
Yet even the sea is not so full of me
If I'm not blind why can't I see
That a circle can't fit where a square should be
There's a hole in my heart
That can only be filled by you
And this hole in my heart
Can't be filled with the things I do"
The lyricist and singer, Gary Cherone, is a professed believer in Christ. And says in several interviews, that he meant this song to reflect that we all walk around with a hole that only God can fill.

What if we demonstrated our faith and belief in every aspect of our lives, even if the world misinterprets it?

Today's worship is from the 1990's band, Extreme and I present you their song, "Hole Hearted"

Maybe as a response to today's song, you could re-read Ecclesiastes which is written from the perspective of a skeptic who comes to the conclusion that life is pointless without God.
