Labor Day Weekend 2020
Today marks six months. Probably the most difficult six months of my life. And yet, worship of our living God has brought me through this far.
When I brought Michelle home from the hospital and we began hospice care, we had worship or Christmas music playing non-stop around the clock. In our last few days together, while she was still awake, we celebrated communion several times and then prayed and sang.
The morning after she passed, I got up early to feed our pets and make some coffee. Again I had worship music playing in the kitchen.
Our dog Sophie sat patiently waiting for her breakfast as I wept and managed to finally get her food dished up.
Then I got out all the things to make my coffee. It was the most difficult cup of coffee I have ever made. I stood over the counter praying to God as the tears streamed down my face.
I heard wonderful music and the gentle words:
"For the sake of the world burn like a fire in me
Light a flame in my soul for every eye to see
For the sake of the world burn like a fire in me"
Jesus came for the sake of the world. He came for my sake. For Michelle's sake. He came for yours, too.
This may have been the most difficult worship I have ever offered to God. But that morning I was in His midst and He was in mine. And we wept together in my kitchen.
Today I share that song of worship with you: Bethel Music's "For the Sake of the World"
