One of my all-time favorite albums is Peter Gabriel's 1986 release, 'So'. But would you think that a song of an 80's pop-rock recording could be worship?
Today, we'll do one more from the secular realm that speaks to a higher power.
I've been a Genesis and Peter Gabriel fan since junior high. Even though, at the time, I didn't even know who they were. But I sang along to their songs on the radio.
A few weeks ago, I was in my kitchen, preparing coffee and listening to worship music when I heard the familiar strains of... Peter Gabriel???
Wait, he doesn't make Christian music? And this voice, it's not him, but a cover.
"ALEXA!! Who sings this song?"
"This is "In Your Eyes" by Francesca Battistelli"
What? No way! This is a Peter Gabriel song from "So".
But sure enough, I looked and it was Francesca singing.
I Googled the meaning behind the song because surely it's a secular love song for a woman or man.
In one article I found where Gabriel said this song could be a call to a higher power.

I've indicated with other songs, our love for God should be just as powerful and meaningful as any relationship we could have with another human.
I don't know if Gabriel is a believer, but in this song, I can hear his heart's cry for something bigger than himself.
Today, as we worship, I encourage you to listen from your heart and sing to our Higher Power, God.
Here is Francesca Battistelli with "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel.
Do you find spiritual themes where others don't?
